In its bid to pose a challenge the world leaders IBM Corp. and Cray Inc, NEC Corporation of Japan has launched the world's fastest vector-type supercomputer – SX-9 model that is equipped with a central processing unit (CPU) core to process information at a maximum speed of 102.4 gigaflops!

As the scramble for conquering the space heats up in Asia, China has made its intentions clear to dominate this area by launching its first lunar probe. The move enables the ruling Chinese Communist Party to move a step closer to fulfilling its ambitions of one day reaching the moon. Like hosting the Olympics, the lunar mission is a symbolic opportunity for China to boost national pride in the one-party state.

Close on the heels of its global launch, Microsoft (MS) India has announced that its Unified Communications (UC) software would soon be available in the country. Launching this business communications software – MS Unified Communications (MSUC) – the company claimed that it will enable enterprise clients cut down VoIP and conferencing costs by 25-30 per cent.
