FRIDAY, July 11, (News Locale) - Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na Aamir Khan's movie that introduces his nephew Imran Khan to Bollywood has set the cash registers ringing furiously. Jaane Tu... has already garnered the status of a super hit with industry sources predicting it would make more money than Aamir's directorial venture Taare Zameen Par.
Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na brings back memories of Aamir Khan's own debut movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which was a path breaker at that time. Jaane Tu... tells the story of two college friends who do not realize they are in love although it is obvious to everyone around them.
The storyline is not great shakes, but director Abbas Tyrewala has handled the theme with finesse and sensitivity taking a fresh approach that seems to have touched a chord among the youth.
It is estimated that Jaane Tu... has 100 per cent at all centres in the region of Rs 300 million by the end of Wednesday although the exact figures are not yet released.
In comparison Harman Baweja's Love Story 2050 has been declared a dud managing collections of just Rs 11 crore by Monday. There is no doubt Harman Baweja is a star in the making, but his debut film bombed at the box office simply because he came up against the marketing genius of Aamir Khan.
As for Imran Khan the sky seems to be the limit now with all pundits proclaiming as the new chocolate hero in much the same manner as they had done when his Aamir maamu made his debut in QSQT.
