FRIDAY, June 26, (News Locale) - Every man fears going bald even though many stylists say bald is sexy. Now scientists have come up with a baldness calculator that can predict when a man is actually going to start losing his hair.

The software is a creation of German scientists at hair care firm Dr Kurt Wolff. The calculator is apparently designed for UK men only and asks 12 questions to predict hair loss among men. These questions include your stress levels, whether you wear a hat and the condition of your hair at the present time.

"Based on genetic information, the male baldness calculator can produce reliable results," the program website claims. "While the result is scientifically substantiated, it can not replace a physician's diagnosis. If you wish to obtain more information later on, ask your hair stylist or pharmacist."

Dr Adolf Klenk, head of research and development at hair care firm Dr Kurt Wolff, said the calculator could come as a relief to young men, who are at the peak of socializing.

Male pattern baldness rarely begins in youth and is more commonly seen in men who are in their fifties. Some of the causes of hair loss include scalp infections, diseases, or by habits like pulling out hair. Usually baldness starts as receding hairline and could be attributed to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Some cases are also inherited, which mean young men could start going bald if their father is also bald. In such a scenario, the baldness calculator promises to relieve anxiety by predicting whether or not you are at risk of going bald in the near future.
