MONDAY, February 1, (News Locale) - Modern lifestyle has indeed taken a toll on the sex life of couples forcing them to try out medications to achieve sexual satisfaction. However, there are many natural foods that increase the libido and help enhance your sex life.

In The Early Show Saturday Edition on CBS News, Health magazine Senior Editor Frances Largeman-Roth described six functional foods that contain nutrients that can enhance sex life. Here is the list

Avocados
Avocados contain high levels of monounsaturated fats that help keep the heart healthy and strong. Studies have shown that men with heart disease are more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction, so a healthy heart will enable proper blood flow to the required areas.

Almonds
Almonds contain high levels of micronutrients like zinc, selenium and Vitamin E, which are important for female sexual health and reproduction. Consuming almonds will increase passion. These nuts also act as sexual stimulant and increase female fertility.

Strawberries
Strawberries have high levels of folic acid that is necessary for increasing sperm counts in men and preventing birth defects in the offspring. Strawberries can improve blood vessel function when consumed along with dark chocolate which is rich in flavonoids.

Citrus Fruits and Vegetables
Citrus fruits are rich in the antioxidant vitamin C, which is important for the reproductive health  in men. Ensure that you eat the required quantities of citrus fruits and vegetables to ignite your sex life.

Figs
Rigs are rich in soluble and insoluble fibre that is important for a healthy heart. High-fibre foods also help you feel full and keep those extra pounds away adding to the sex appeal.

Seafood
Oysters, wild salmon and herring contain high amounts of zinc and omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart health and production of sex hormones. Zinc is important for the production of estrogen and testosterone and thus helps boost sex life.

The above foods are only examples of eating right. Remember the key to a healthy sex life is to keep the heart healthy; so that it can respond in the proper manner when required.
