FRIDAY, April 17, (News Locale) - Strange are the ways of life and especially human resilience. This was underlined emphatically when a British woman gave birth to twins minutes after suffering a heart attack.

The Daily Telegraph reported on how 38-year-old Nina Whear, was bid farewell by her husband as she entered the delivery room. Doctors at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge had given Mrs Whear a seven percent chance of surviving the delivery as she suffered from a potentially fatal heart condition.

The condition was diagnosed when she was nine months pregnant and doctors decided that an emergency Caesarean section was needed to save the twins. Mrs Whear had been diagnosed with aortic dissection, a condition, which results in a tear in the aorta, which is the main heart vessel.

Since the process of delivery puts a great strain on the body, doctors did not expect that Mrs Whear would pull though. So much so that the hospital chaplain was present when she said "goodbye" to her husband.

However she pulled through and today is the happy mother of twins Evie and Alfie. The newspaper report also said that she collapsed on January 6 and ambulance technicians gave oxygen to her, which probably saved her life. Today she has had successful heart surgery and remains grateful to the ambulance technicians.

This is as close to a medical miracle as it gets. We wish the twins and their mum a very long life filled with happiness!
