MONDAY, JAN 7 (News Locale) - Asus (IDLDPL) has announced the launch of it’s launched its P526 PDA phone in association with India Digital Life Style Distributors Private Limited. The device is an unlocked quad-band smart phone that runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional. The P526 features a two-mega pixel camera, GPS capabilities, and several software add-ons. 

The new gadget also includes a numeric keypad and a 2.6-inch display with 320 x 240 resolution, while the CPU is TI's OMAP850 clocked at 200MHz that comes with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of flash with a memory that can be expanded via a microSD slot. In addition, the Asus’ P526 PDA phone functions on 1300 mAh Lithium-Ion battery offering 150 hours stand-by time and 4 hours talk time.

Like the P525 presented earlier by Asus, the P526 too has a squared-off silver-gray case that makes it look like a PDA more than most other smart phones. But unlike most PDAs, P526 offers GPS functionality supported by the omnipresent SiRF starIII chipset that includes over 200,000 correlators and can trail 20 satellites simultaneously.

The phone also boasts of an Asus Launcher that makes it easier to launch applications or functions, while Asus's Meeting Planner enables the user to plan international teleconferences over three time zones.

According to PDA Business Product Manager, Asus India, Altaf Ansari, the P526 PDA is a stylish gadget for people on the move and who prefer to remain connected at all times through online communities, instant messengers, blog updates, emails and files transfers. He claimed that the productivity of the smart phone is also improved though integrated applications like GPS.

On the other hand, Assistant Vice-President, Sales-IDLDPL, Surinder Saini said that his company believed in developing an aspiration value and image for the relevant target group and then having an attractive price as the surprise feature. He maintained that the customer insights form the basis of the company’s product development and enhancement process.

Asus P526 PDA is be marketed in India by IDLDPL and is available for Rs. 18,990 with an MOP of Rs. 16,990.
