TUESDAY, December 29, (News Locale) - India’s leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for this year’s Auto Expo in New Delhi and is planning to showcase 17 new models during the event on January 5.

Toeing the government’s green initiative in the auto industry, Maruti Suzuki will be unveiling a number of hybrid models including Suzuki Kizashi, the hatchback version of the SX4 and an electric multi- purpose van.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on a new car called Eeco. This is the fourth offering out of the Maruti stables to meet the BSIV norms and is ELV (End of Life for Vehicles) compliant. This means the car uses minimal; amounts of dangerous materials like lead, cadmium, mercury and chromium.

This five-door, C segment vehicle has been specifically designed for the Indian market and contains a powerful 1200 cc engine which is capable of delivering 73 BHP of raw power @6000rpm.

The 5 speed manual transmission system with the Diagonal Shift Assistance (DSA) technology promises to deliver better fuel consumption and also improve the gear shift feeling.

The Eeco will be available in three different models: a seven-seater, five-seater and a five-seater AC. The company revealed that it is expecting to sell at least 40,000 vehicles in the first year of its launch.

The Eeco will be available in six colors including Metallic Glistening Grey, Metallic Silky Silver, Metallic Midnight Black, Metallic Blue Blaze, Bright Red and Superior White.

While the price is yet to be decided upon, the company revealed that it will cost less than the Versa model which was priced at Rs 3.5-4 lakh.
