SATURDAY, July 4, (News Locale) - Virgin Mobile India has announced its intention of grabbing a slice of the data devices segment in India by launching a new device called vLink. The device can serve as CDMA USB Modem with 1 GB data storage drive.
Users can surf the web on the go with this device, which comes with a unlimited monthly data plan of Rs. 801/-. The vLink is a sleek white colored device, which comes with pre-installed drivers, thus nullifying the need for CD installation. Virgin Mobile is offering one month free unlimited data usage.
"vLink will offer instant connectivity on the move to the style conscious youth, be it students, professionals, SMBs or SOHOs. We have extended the functionality of a modem and clubbed it with data storage capability of up to 1 GB. It is a carry-along device that will allow users to access Internet anywhere as well as store their music, photos, videos, etc.," said a press statement by M. A. Madhusudan, Chief Executive Officer, Virgin Mobile India.
Virgin has come up with a unique tariff plan for vLink. The first plan offers unlimited usage for Rs 801. The second plan costs Rs. 349 per month and has the added benefit of rolling over unused balance to the next month. This is the first unused balance roll over facility for data usage in the Indian market, Virgin Mobile revealed.
The company said vLink aims to satisfy the need for wireless connectivity among the youth of the country. The service offers a speed of up to 153 Kbps and is available for Rs 2,100 and comes with a starter kit worth Rs 99, which includes one month of free, unlimited data usage.
