Delhi schoolteacher Uma Khurana, who is at the center of a fake sting operation conducted by a television news channel, has been released from prison on bail. The Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya school teacher was alleged to be involved in a prostitution ring, according to the sting operation, which later turned out to be a hoax.

Live India TV channel carried out the operation in question. Following the airing of the so-called "sting" an angry mob wound its way to the school and trashed the teacher senseless. Degrading visuals were beamed across the media and Delhi Police were forced to register a FIR against the teacher in question.

The following day Uma Khurana is sacked, according to an announcement made by the Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely. On September 2, Deli Police arrested a businessman called Virender Arora after it emerged that he provided the girl in the sting operation that framed Ms Khurana.

It has now emerged that Arora decided to frame Khurana because she was not repaying him Rs 1 lakh that she allegedly owed him. Sources reveal that the girl in the sting operation is not a prostitute but is a journalist with a small-time newspaper in Noida.

Rashmi Singh, the girl who acted as the bait in the sting operation, has been taken into judicial custody by the crime branch. She has been charged with has been charged with cheating, impersonation, criminal conspiracy and giving false evidence.

The reporter Prakash Singh, who conducted the fake operation, was arrested last week. He was booked under the Indian Penal Code on charges of cheating and conspiracy.

The Delhi Police will submit a detailed report on the incident to the High Court on Wednesday. This is when Khurana's role in the whole drama will be revealed to the full. However the schoolteacher is confident all claims will be proved false. "I have full faith in the judiciary," she added.
